Music video for Institution by Radical Dads from the album Paved Mountain. This video began after doing a little animation of Shleepy, just pencil and colored pencil on paper, and made into a little loop, similar to some of the other pencil animations that I had been making.
I was happy with how that came out, and it didn't take me too long, so I had the idea to try to put a bunch of simple little videos like this together into and make a full music video out of it. I started with some fairly simple ones.
After that though, I made some choices that weren't very "efficient". For starters, I chose the longest song we had, because I figured out a storyline that I was excited about. Every second leads to a lot more drawings.
Besides using a longer song, I started having some bigger ideas on where the story should go, and I quickly got carried away, and started including shots that needed separate backgrounds, walk cycles for multiple characters, and even a bit of lip syncing.
So needless to say, it took me a bit longer to finish than I had originally anticipated, but I'm glad I was able to get through it and pretty happy with the results. Here is the full video:
