
Logo design for Alcohol Research Lab. The lab was looking for a logo that would suggest alcohol and people interacting, and also somehow include people's brains and emotions, while also keeping it minimal and clean and not being too explicit.


After a few initial sketches, I came upon the idea of having a bottle over a person's head, but it didn't quite do enough to suggest social interaction. Overlapping two heads with the bottle solved the problem, by both suggesting the interaction of the two people, but also by highlighting the brain and hopefully in some ways their emotions. The final step was to add some color, which we decided would work best by highlighting the school colors of University of Illinois. If the lab ever moves to a different institution, other color options are always available.
